Wheatland’s Wish You Were Here!

With the cancellation of WMO events through June 30, 2020, we are sending your way some of the TAW talent you are missing.

Saturday, May 23, 2020, the Wheatland Music will be streaming a two hour free concert, 7:00 – 9:00 PM, featuring 4 performers/groups that we had to cancel for TAW 2020. The Palooka Brothers will start off the concert, followed by Rollie Tussing, The Family Business and Creole du Nord. Each performer/group will perform a 25-30 minute set. The concert will be emceed by everyone’s favorite announcer; Frank Youngman.

The concert will be streamed on Wheatland’s Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/wheatlandmusicorganization/

It will also be available on YouTube https://youtu.be/7d8JRUXV-Ek and Wheatland’s website: https://www.wheatlandmusic.org

The Palooka Bothers have been called a State of the Art, pre-modern “All-timey’ String Band. They play tunes and songs from the 18th century, the 19th century, and, if you remember, the last century. For a contemporary touch, programs include Bracken & Gartner originals. Band members are Jon Cotton, Bruce Gartner, Dan Bracken and Bruce Bauman.

Rollie Tussing has played music in concert halls, major music festivals (including Wheatland!) and sidewalks all over the United States and in Europe. His “raggedy folk” style is informed by the era of 78 RPM records, juke joints, and street performers

The Family Business, an offshoot of Rhythm In Shoes is Sharon Leahy, Rick Good, Abby Ladin, Sam Bartlett, Ben Cooper and special guests Emma Good & Linzay Young.

Creole du Nord- authentic Cajun & Zydeco music meant for the best of times. Led by Mark Palms who traced his family roots to St. Martinville, Louisiana along with Carol Palms on bass, Billy King on guitar, Geoff Kinde on drums, and Zach Fusilier from Scott Louisiana on fiddle.

A big Thank You to Dan Bracken for coordinating the project, assisted by Greg Hoff and The Traditional Arts Weekend Committee. And to WCMU Public Media for their technical support.
