Hope you will join us for the 2015 WHEATSCOUTS FALL CAMPOUT!
When: Saturday, 9/26, 10 AM-Sunday, 9/27, 10 AM.
What:
1. Free play during the day on Sat.
2. Saturday Night Potluck (~6). Bring a dish to pass and your own table service. Wheatland will provide hotdogs and brats and a fire to cook them on.
3. Saturday PM: S’mores and other campfire fun (singing? Tunes?)
4. Break camp after breakfast on Sunday. Your hosts Kris and Bruce have to head downstate for another family gathering on Sunday afternoon.
Who: YOU.
Email Kris (kstableford@yahoo.com) or call (989-561-2308) if you have questions.
And more good news: Lake Effect (hosted by Nan Nickson) will be performing for Wheatscouts kids and families on 10/10.
But here’s where things get a bit murky: no parent has stepped forward to volunteer to coordinate Wheatscouts for the remainder of the 2015-2016 Season. The Wheatland Community Ed Cmte (that oversees Wheatscouts) is kicking around other options for keeping Wheatscouts going beyond October. What would be optimal would be for a parent whose kids are currently active in the program to volunteer to take charge.
Feel free to contact Kris or the WMO Office (wmo.office@wheatlandmusic.org / 989-967-8879) if you’re interested and/or have questions.
Thanks and see you soon!

Join Wheatscouts for their first event of Fall 2015! This is a camping weekend for kids and their parents, free of charge, with many activities and events to enjoy.
This children’s program was started at Wheatland in 1987 with the purpose of educating children through music, dance, storytelling, crafts and nature while promoting family tradition and fellowship. Wheatscouts also gives the adults a chance to bond with other grown-ups while turning the little ones loose for a couple of hours.
Wheatscouts meet during the months from October – June, and are generally scheduled for the 2nd Saturday of each month from 11am till 1pm in the Gladys Wernette building on the Wheatland Music site. Each season kicks off and closes with a Wheatscouts Family Campout, held on site at Wheatland.
Wheatscouts is offered free of charge, is open to the public and a small healthy snack will be provided. (Feel free to bring a snack to share as well) Each gathering is uniquely themed, so stay tuned to both the Wheatland website and Facebook page for up to date information.
If you would like additional information regarding Wheatscouts you may call Jennifer Fields (coordinator) at 989-944-5011 or the WMO Office at 989-967-8879.
