Wheatscouts May Session - Bird watching and nature walk & crafts @ Gladys Wernette Classroom Building

Join us for our final Wheatscouts event before the summer break! Our May event will be focused on birdwatching with Deb Macauley, nature walks on the Wheatland grounds and fun crafts! Save the date and stay tuned for more information.

(Free event – Snacks will be provided)

This event is most enjoyable for kids ages 5+, accompanied by an adult. Younger kids are welcome to watch and/or participate!

About the event

Come listen to folktales and fairy tales told by Storyteller, Eileen DeLorenzo. These participatory traditional stories are infused with repetition, rhythm, rhyme, and song making for a highly engaging shared experience for all.

About Wheatscouts

Wheatland Music Organization (501(c)(3)) children’s program was started at Wheatland in 1987 with the purpose of introducing children of all ages to folk arts and traditional music in a casual, kid-friendly setting. Wheatscouts events are free of charge and open to the public. All ages of children are welcome, no pre-registration required.

From learning about different square & contra dances, songs, storytelling, string & percussion music instruments to crafts & activities like bookbinding, nature walks and tie-dye – we focus on finding new ways to teach the old ways.

Wheatscouts meets the 2nd Saturday (October – May) 11 AM till 1 PM in the Gladys Wernette Classroom / Main building on the Wheatland Music site. The event includes a break with healthy snacks provided. Feel free to bring your own food if you or your child have dietary restrictions, or simply to share it with the group!

Each one of our monthly gathering is uniquely themed. Follow the Wheatland website (wheatlandmusic.org) or the Wheatscouts – Traditional Arts & Music for Kids Facebook page for updates.
