Songwriting I: The Song Assignment (with John D. Lamb) – In preamble to the handing out of song assignments, Lamb will discuss assignments he has received from others. You’ll get to hear how they came to fruition. He will ask you a few questions and  tailor you your own unique song assignment.  You will have the duration of this camp to write the song.  At the end of the week, you will sing what you’ve drafted. Treat this as simply an exercise that gives you a starting point with parameters.  You won’t have to stare at a blank page for too long.  Get started on ideas and a first draft.

Songwriting II: Writing Words & Melody, Rewriting Words & Melody (with John D. Lamb) – Lamb will show you examples of first, second and umpteenth song drafts. We’ll discuss how to arrive at a finish point, if ever. For those who wish to share a draft of their started song assignment, Lamb will engage in a discussion of your progress (this can be done one-on-one or with a group, your choice).

Songwriting III: From Blank Page to On Stage (with John D. Lamb) – Once you’ve written (and rewritten) your song it’s time to  prepare it for the stage.  We will work techniques for how best to perform the song with your voice and your instrument.  Lamb’s song assignments have inspired and spawned hundreds of good songs.  Don’t be surprised if you end up with a ”keeper.”
