About Wheatscouts
Wheatland Music Organization (501(c)(3)) children’s program was started at Wheatland in 1987 with the purpose of introducing children to folk arts and traditional music in a casual, kid-friendly setting. Wheatscouts events are free of charge, open to the public, and children of all ages are welcome. No preregistration or WMO membership is required. Parents are required to stay on-site for the duration of the event.
From learning about different square & contra dances, songs, storytelling, string & percussion music instruments to crafts & activities like bookbinding, nature walks, and tie-dye – we focus on finding new ways to teach the old ways.
Wheatscouts meets the 2nd Saturday (October – May) 11 AM till 1 PM in the Gladys Wernette Classroom building on the Wheatland Music site. The event includes a break with healthy snacks provided. Feel free to bring your own food if you or your child have dietary restrictions, or simply to share it with the group!
