Wheatscouts Returns - October 14: Cider & Donut Making with Hayride @ Gladys Wernette Classroom Building

Join us for a variety of fun fall activities! Indulge in the freshly made on-site donuts while sipping your apple cider and enjoying a hayride. Make old-fashioned apple cider with an apple press. We will provide some apples, but you are encouraged to bring your own apples and a container to take some apple cider home. Donut supplies will all be provided. Other fall-inspired crafts will be planned for the kids as well.

What to Bring:

  • Weather appropriate clothes, it’s Fall in Michigan, be prepared for anything.
  • Apples: For sweeter cider, try Gala, Fuji, Cortland, Golden Delicious, or Red Delicious varieties; for a more acidic, tart flavor, go with Pink Lady, Braeburn, Jonathan, or McIntosh. A blend of apples from both the sweet and tart flavor families is sure to be a hit!
  • Container to take apple cider home with you.

About Wheatscouts
Wheatland Music Organization (501(c)(3)) children’s program was started at Wheatland in 1987 with the purpose of introducing children to folk arts and traditional music in a casual, kid-friendly setting. Wheatscouts events are free of charge, open to the public, and children of all ages are welcome. No preregistration or WMO membership is required. Parents are required to stay on-site for the duration of the event.
From learning about different square & contra dances, songs, storytelling, string & percussion music instruments to crafts & activities like bookbinding, nature walks, and tie-dye – we focus on finding new ways to teach the old ways.

Wheatscouts meets the 2nd Saturday (October – May) 11 AM till 1 PM in the Gladys Wernette Classroom building on the Wheatland Music site. The event includes a break with healthy snacks provided. Feel free to bring your own food if you or your child have dietary restrictions, or simply to share it with the group!
